Overall Character
Full-bodied, smoky, and intensely savoury. Dark fruit, cracked pepper, tar, espresso, and maritime notes unfold in layers. Despite its strength, it remains cohesive rather than chaotic.
Production Style
Non-chill filtered. Bottled at natural colour. Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and French oak casks.
Nose
A dense wave of peat smoke, tar, and charcoal. Beneath it, dark chocolate, blackcurrant, brine, and toasted oak emerge. There is a meaty richness, almost savoury, that gives weight and seriousness. Alcohol is present but well integrated with time.
Palate
Viscous and commanding. Bitter espresso, black pepper, smoked meat, and treacle dominate early. Dark berries and salted caramel add depth. The French oak influence brings spice and grip without overwhelming the spirit. It is forceful, yet remarkably controlled.
Finish
Long and drying. Ash, liquorice root, cracked pepper, and fading sweetness linger. The smoke evolves rather than simply recedes. It leaves an imprint.
