Japanese whisky is heavily inspired by Scottish production methods but often focuses on precision and balance. Many Japanese single malts show elegant flavours of fruit, malt and subtle oak, with great attention to blending and maturation. Distilleries such as Yamazaki, Hakushu and Yoichi have helped establish Japan as one of the most respected whisky-producing countries.
