Scotland is the historic home of single malt whisky and the world’s largest producer of Scotch. Scottish whiskies vary widely in style depending on the region, from the smoky, maritime malts of Islay to the fruit-forward whiskies of Speyside and the balanced character of many Highland distilleries. Scotch whisky must be matured in oak casks for at least three years.
