It doesn’t try to replace the classic 14-year-old. Instead, it shows what Oban tastes like when the distillery turns up the oak and lets the maritime character run a bit wilder.

Production Style

Oban Little Bay is matured initially in refill American oak casks before a portion of the whisky undergoes additional maturation in smaller oak casks to increase wood interaction. The whisky is bottled at 43% ABV.

Nose

Bright and coastal. Orange peel, apple, and honey lead the aroma. Sea salt and soft smoke follow underneath. Vanilla and caramel appear from the oak, alongside a faint herbal freshness.

Palate

Medium body with a smooth texture. Sweet malt and citrus arrive first, followed by honey and baked apple. Mid-palate introduces sea salt, light peat smoke, and mild pepper spice. The smaller cask influence adds noticeable oak spice and structure. The 43% ABV keeps the whisky approachable while maintaining balance.

Finish

Moderate length. Lingering citrus peel, gentle smoke, and oak spice remain. A faint saline note continues into the finish, reinforcing the coastal character.
